What’s the cost for an interpreted Mandarin Chinese telephone call?

You offer a Mandarin Chinese call interpreting service – what is Mandarin Chinese?

Mandarin Chinese is the most common language of mainland China and Taiwan.  If you are doing business with companies or individuals within these countries then they are most likely to speak Mandarin.

If you wish to communicate with someone in Hong Kong it is most likely that they will speak Cantonese.  We do not currently offer a Cantonese interpreting service.

I have a specific goal for my telephone call, how can I ensure you can help me reach this?

Up to 5 minutes are included both before and after the call so our interpreter can understand your hopes for the call and also provide feedback following the call. You can also choose to have an additional 30 minutes for this purpose for a cost of £20.  You can choose this option when making a booking.  You are also able to upload any relevant documents during the booking process that you wish us to consult and refer to during the call.  If your needs are particularly complex then please contact us.

Can you record the call?

Yes, when completing the booking you can choose to have Mandarin Chinese interpreted  call recorded.  An MP3 recording of the call will be forwarded to you by email within 24 hours of the call completing (usually much sooner).

My call will be of a technical nature, will your interpreter be able to handle this?

We have interpreters with a wide variety of backgrounds and specialisms.  If your communication will be of a particularly technical nature (medical, complex financial etc) then please choose the appropriate option when booking.  A £25 surcharge will be payable.  We will ensure an appropriately qualified interpreter will be scheduled for your call.

Will I be charged for the call costs associated with making the call?

No, the price you pay includes us setting up the conference call so you will not need to pay any additional call fees, even if the call is routed to a mobile phone.  We call you before making the connection to the third party.  We use a high quality SIP service to make our calls which enables us to offer services such as call recording and also means we do not need to charge additional call fees regardless if call destination.  From time to time we may review the call costs to certain locations if they are particularly high and charge an appropriate surcharge but you will always be informed of this before your booking is confirmed.

What happens if the person isn’t available when making the call?

If you specify a time for the call and the third party isn’t available then if you require we can keep trying to connect with the third party, however time taken trying to make the connection will be taken out of your purchased time.  If the call needs to be rescheduled then we charge a £25 rescheduling fee.  If you have chosen our additional option for us to liaise with the third party and schedule the call (£10) and the person isn’t available then we will reschedule the call for free.

I don’t know how long my call will last, what length of time should I book?

We understand that it’s not always easy to predict the length of your interpreted Chinese call. Our minimum call charge is for a 30 minute call. If the call length is less than you have paid for, we will make a refund for the overpayment, so it is probably a good idea to book for longer than you think you require.

If the call lasts longer than expected we will bill you after the call for the additional time. We will allow new customers to go only 15 minutes over their booked call length. If you are a repeat customer then we will, at our discretion, allow you to go over your booked call length by 30 minutes and then bill you for the additional time.
